Continuing medical education
Every specialist in plastic, reconstructive and aesthetic surgery is obliged under the continuing medical education ordinance (FBO) of the FMH Swiss Medical Association to undergo continuing medical education in their field.
Scope of annual continuing medical education
Specialists in plastic, reconstructive and aesthetic surgery must complete the following amounts of continuing medical education each year:
- 25 credits in subject-specific continuing medical education
- 25 credits in subject-specific or other continuing medical education
- 30 credits of self-study
One credit is equivalent to one hour. SWISS PLASTIC SURGERY regularly checks that these criteria are met. Together with the FMH Swiss Medical Association, SWISS PLASTIC SURGERY issues the relevant continuing medical education certificates as evidence of completion.
